Thank you for your interest in the Common Sense for Maine organization.

In late January of 2025, a group of prominent Maine businesspeople gathered together and came to the conclusion that real and substantial change in Maine’s government had to take place, starting with the 2026 Maine elections.  From restauranters, to attorneys, to manufacturers, to recreational space owners, these businesspeople, believe in Maine and its people and have made a substantial commitment and investment in building Maine’s future.

Unfortunately, through poor public policy decisions, the ability to flourish in Maine has become more and more difficult.  From the 2nd highest tax burden in America, to an education system that ranks 43rd among the various states, to poorly maintained infrastructure, electricity costs that are double the national average, and over regulation of our industries, Maine and its people are facing a significant economic struggle.

Common Sense for Maine is committed to bringing solutions forward to these issues.  We will help identify candidates, support them in their campaigns, raise money to bring awareness to the important issues, and provide a common sense approach to solving them.

This is a different kind of approach to the political and public policy issues facing Maine.  Our approach is simple.  We need to minimize government intrusion into our lives.  We need to take a business-like approach to the operation of government, making it more accountable and transparent to the citizens it serves.  We need to bring down our tax burden, lowering our overall taxes, as we bring down the size of government.  Finally, this approach will NOT abandon those truly in need, but it will expect the capable to help themselves, as we help them get back on the their feet.
